Welcome to Chelwood House

Chelwood House was built in 1681 as a Dower House and sits in lovely 1.3 acre gardens in the valley of the river Chew approximately 9 miles West of Bath and the same distance South of Bristol. The property is grade 2 listed with quaint features and lovely, characterful accommodation offering great reception rooms and 9-12 ensuite bedrooms.

We regularly take large groups for weekends, or for a longer holiday. Typical groups are of 18– 24 people, with a maximum of 27 in the main house, or up to 33 people when the Annex is also taken. Family gatherings, hen and stag groups are all welcome.

There are 9 bedrooms in the main house, very generously sized, and each having individual décor and character. All the bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom or shower-room. As an option for even more space, the Annex can also be booked giving a further 3 bedrooms each with a king-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom. If you are unsure of your numbers you can just budget for the main house and add the Annex sometime later as required.
