Nestling on the edge of a pine forest, with panoramic frontal views to the Monadhliath Mountains, Balcraggan House is the ideal place to stay for a peaceful, relaxed holiday.

This lovely, detached family home offers guest accommodation of a twin and a double room. The twin room is furnished in pine with antique Dutch beds, whilst the double room includes walnut furniture and a large French bed; both are en-suite with baths, television with video facilities and a welcome tray; there is a shower room available on the ground floor.

There will be an open fire to welcome you in the evening, if you choose to relax in the spacious, elegant drawing room.

Balcraggan House is non-smoking and caters for children over ten years old; pets are not allowed in the house but can be kept in their owners vehicles.

There is a wide variety of wildlife in the area. Red squirrels are frequent visitors to the bird table in the garden, as are woodpeckers and occasionally crested tits.

Set in lower Glenfeshie, there is direct access to miles of tracks and the higher hills for walking, with a chance of seeing red and roe deer, eagles, ospreys, buzzards, cross-bills, pine martens and badgers.

The area also offers an abundance of outdoor activities water sports at nearby Loch Insh; river and loch fishing; climbing; tennis; pony trekking; golf (7 local courses); clay pigeon shooting; skiing and snowboarding at Cairngorm (with a funicular railway); quad bikes; off-road driving; a steam railway; Highland wildlife park; trial flights at the nearby gliding club; and, if you enjoy off-road cycling, Helen can give advice on the best routes to follow.
