Avalon is an elegant Edwardian house with many character features of a bygone era. The house has been lovingly restored by its present owner to combine comfort with tasteful decor. Several pieces of antique furniture add a personal touch to this ‘home from home’.

Conveniently situated, its location offers the best of both worlds. Just five minutes level walk from the town centre and ten minutes from the seafront, but backing onto breathtaking scenery known as the Byes and the river Sid.

This is a small, friendly, family run business, providing a mixture of double and twin rooms, including the four-poster room for that special occasion when you want to spoil yourself or someone else.

All bedrooms have:

Central heating with thermostatic control
En suite shower and toilet
Complimentary tea, coffee, drinking chocolate and biscuits
Freeview television
Alarm clock radio
Hairdryer
Double glazing

There are no single rooms. Normally rooms can be reserved for two nights or more, with weekly rates reduced pro rata. However, sole occupancy or one night bookings may be accepted during low season.

We have no facilities for children or pets. As the name suggests we do not knowingly provide accommodation for smokers either.

The two separate parking areas ensure that you can come and go as you please without the risk of losing your space or being boxed in.

At breakfast there is a choice of cereals, fruit juice, grapefruit segments, yoghurt or fresh fruit – all available on a self service basis. This can be followed by a full English breakfast, freshly cooked and served by the proprietor when you are ready.

Avalon is also renowned for its imaginative vegetarian menu. This generous breakfast is included in our normal tariff.
