Dulwich Picture Gallery

The Dulwich Picture Gallery is located in Dulwich, in South London and was opened in 1817. This collection of European masters was put together by Francis Bourgois and Noel Desenfans for the King of Poland in 1790 but by the time the works were assemble, Poland had been portioned by its neighbours.

In 1811 the collection was left to Dulwich College with a sum of money to build a gallery to display the works. The works are of very high quality paintings dating mainly from the 15th and 16th centuries. The gallery also hosts temporary exhibitions.

The Gallery is situated in Gallery Road Dulwich and the nearest train station is West Dulwich Station (from Victoria) but North Dulwich Station (from London Bridge) is also with easy walking distance of the Gallery.
