Geography

Aberffraw is bordered by sand dunes and the Afon Ffraw river which skirts the western edge of the dunes, reaching the sea at Traeth Mawr beach.

History

Aberffraw was the main court of the Kings of Gwynedd and the Princes of Wales untill 1298 when it was destroyed by King Edward of England. about 1.5 miles away, across the estuary is the church at Llangadwaladr, where early rulers are buried. Here is the gravestone of Cadfan, a 7th century king of Gwynedd.
