Situated some 20 metres to the south of the main house, The Dick Turpin Cottage, a detached, stone and timber built, slate roofed property stands high above Clun. The cottage enjoys enviable views of the valley and the rolling Shropshire hills. The fully restored property nestles in 20 acres of woods and wonderful walks on the hillside high above the historic village of Clun. Located in the first 'environmentally sensitive area' and designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The countryside commission recent survey designated this to be one of the three remaining havens of tranquillity in Britain. The charm of The Dick Turpin Cottage with its many features of architectural and historic interest has been carefully preserved.

Spacious, light, and airy, the cottage is a relaxing retreat all year round, with its real log fire, central heating and double glazing. The nearest shops and post office are in Clun (1 mile) with butchers, groceries, newsagent, gift shops, general store, antique shops, art gallery, and museum. There is an excellent wide range of pubs and restaurants to suit every pocket and taste. The Dick Turpin Cottage is one of few Shropshire holiday cottages featured in "Special Places to Stay in Britain", awarded the top English Tourist Board quality rating 5 Stars, Deluxe 5 Keys, and Gold Award.

The sympathetic restoration of this detached stone building under a slate roof retained many original features but also, importantly, introduced all of the modern amenities and comforts that you would expect to find in a five-star gold luxury holiday cottage, such as high speed Wi-Fi internet access.  The living room is light, airy and spacious and has a log-burning stove (free logs provided) and French doors looking out onto a very private terrace furnished with table and chairs. Music lovers will be delighted to find a state-of-the-art Linn music system for radio and CDs, a Brennan music store and a Bose unit. There is also a large high definition flat screen television, a DVD player, video, iPod dock, internet/DAB radio and telephone. In the kitchen there’s a full-sized fan oven, a ceramic hob, a fridge-freezer and a dishwasher. You will also find a special set of “Fisler” stainless steel 18/10 pans and a full range of utensils. The bedroom is notable for its striking Swiss fabric wall covering and its enormous, sumptuous bed, all very much in keeping with the luxury holiday cottage feel of the place. There is a flat screen television at the foot of the bed. The bathroom, with bath and double-sized shower cubicle with a power shower, has one WC, but there is another one in the separate cloakroom. In a separate little room you will find a washing machine, ironing board, information books and a sizeable collection of CDs and DVDs. All linen and towels provided.

From the French doors of the living room you can walk out onto the west-facing private terrace.  Here you can take it easy, sunbathing on the outdoor easy chairs, sipping wine from your complimentary welcome hamper, then in the evening why not round off the day by dining alfresco on the terrace and retreat to the warmth of the log-burning stove as the sun goes down.  There is parking right outside the cottage which is to be found at the top of a long private drive.  On arrival you will find a welcome hamper with some essentials and a few luxuries to begin your break in style. Sorry due to our own dogs and adjacent farm we cannot accommodate pets.
