Penffynnon is set on a gently sloping hill, in an almost secret location, in the quiet holiday village of Aberporth on Cardigan Bay – the perfect family beach holiday location. All our visitors are delighted when they first arrive at Penffynnon and find out just how close they are to the water's edge. Every one of our properties is within 200 yards of the sea. This small cluster of self-contained properties enjoys a unique and special setting by the unspoilt Welsh coast. The former fishing village of Aberporth is still undiscovered by the holiday masses even though we can boast one of the area's loveliest Blue Flag beaches. All our properties are Wales Tourist Board approved Grades 5. Our accommodation now has free wireless broadband for your use!
Walking on the beach in winter is one of the secret delights of an out of season break at Penffynnon. There are opportunities to surf, canoe and sail as well as to swim in the clean waters. Dolphins share our beautiful coast and you may well see them from the beaches and from the comfort of Penffynnon properties.
The four houses which provide the accommodation at Penffynnon Properties are 300 metres from Aberporth’s two safe sandy Blue Flag beaches and sit on a hill overlooking Cardigan Bay. Each house has an outside H&C shower so that you can wash off the sand and salt after your swim. There is ample parking, and we are very sensitive to the needs of the less able. Children and pets are welcome.
Môr & Ysgol: Mor is a centrally heated, self contained semi-detached villa (the other half is Ysgol) some 250m from the top of the beach. It has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and sleeps 6. The ground floor is completely level. Ysgol sleeps 6/7 in 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and has just completed a major upgrade; the redesign has been done with the disabled very much in mind. The lounge, dining and kitchen areas are generous. Adjacent to Mor and Ysgol there is a small laundry area with washing machines and a dryer; and there is space to store your beach kit.
Dolphin Cottage: This cottage is all on one level and designed to meet Access Grade 2 Standards for wheelchair users. The lounge has a french window giving extensive views of Cardigan Bay with a a wood burning stove. The adjoining kitchen/dining area is fully equipped and has a refectory table. The bathroom has a large shower area and an adapted toilet and off the entrance lobby is a toilet / washbasin. One bedroom has a double bed, one has twin beds and the third has bunk beds. Most of the flooring is oak or Welsh slate, there is oil-fired central heating, and equipment includes dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, TV, digi-box and video. There is parking for 2/3 cars, and a shed for storing your stuff. If the dolphins are in the bay you will have a wonderful view of them from here.
Ty Broc is a substantial spilt-level house to sleep 8. The lounge is upstairs to make the most of the excellent views of the bay, it has a wood burning stove making winter breaks a popular option. The kitchen/dining area has French windows onto a patio. Off the lounge is the master bedroom with ensuite shower & WC. Downstairs there are three bedrooms, one of which is bunk-bedded, and a large family bathroom. The entrance lobby has an adjoining toilet with washing machine. Most of the flooring is oak or Welsh slate. Equipment includes dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, TV, digi-box and video. Through the kitchen patio door there is a large south facing patio tables and benches, a barbeque, a decent sized lawn for you and your kids to play on, and a shed to store your beach stuff.
All our properties have colour TV with digi box. Cots and high-chairs are available on request. Each property is centrally heated so bookings can be taken all year round. Our accommodation now has free wireless broadband for your use. Price includes linen, electricity and heating. Aberporth is a former fishing village – it has a Spa Shop, a chemist, two pubs, a chippy, a Chinese and a launderette. Cardigan is seven miles away and has Tesco, an Aldi, Boots etc, and butchers and bakers. For culture there is a small flourishing cinema/theatre complex, for the inner man there are several eating places including (in the summer) a very youthful Pizza and live music scene down by the river.
