Home

Our AA Highly Commended, superior B&B in the Wye Valley is on the cusp of three of the most beautiful counties in the British Isles.Revel in luxurious beds and our famous scrumptuous breakfasts, AA Breakfast Award, as part of a most enjoyable experience within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy a relaxing break and a wonderful change of scene by escaping to a different time and place. We are conveniently situated in the heart of Whitchurch village. Just 5 mins on foot is the River Wye at the edge of the Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat Rock and Gorge. Plenty to do and see around us, walking on foot paths from our front door. Golf just ten minutes away be car (we're 20 mins by car away from 2010 Ryder Cup venue). Canoeing 5 minutes away. Fun for the children in walking distance. Wheelchair friendly.

We took over Portland House in August 2004 and have undertaken an extensive refurbishment programme, restoring a considerable part of our beautiful house and garden to an excellent standard of award winning accommodation. A beautiful slate floor has been installed in the front and rear halls and public areas and bedrooms have been sympathetically renovated.

We have off street parking and one parking space designated for the disabled.

We offer guests the use of the very comfortable and spacious lounge in which to relax, watch satellite television or maybe enjoy a game of chess, and it's especially cosy in the winter with a log fire.

We regret we cannot accommodate pets, except a working dog in a specific supportive role to its owner.

Please note - Portland House is strictly non-smoking
