Leisure

The Haven is situated just outside the Northumberland National Park; the park covers 400 square miles (103,600 hectares) of wild Northumbrian countryside, the perfect place for walking, bird watching, cycling, or simply sitting in the car and enjoying the panoramic views.

There are medieval castles at Alnwick, Warkworth, Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh and Chillingham. These are all open to the public, throughout the year, and are well worth a visit.

Northumberland has miles upon miles of golden sandy beaches, with the odd rocky one too! If the weather is nice, then a day on the coast is a must; it's roughly a thirty minute drive, but it is well worth it.

If you miss the hustle and bustle of the city, or like to shop on a grander scale, then head south towards the city of Newcastle Upon Tyne. Newcastle offers some fantastic and varied restaurants, shops, and is renowned for its lively nightlife.

Food & Drink

You'll be able to enjoy one of Roz's wonderful breakfasts, which will set you up for the day. Only the best local produce is used, wherever possible. We grill or poach most breakfast items, the only items fried are eggs and mushrooms, which are fried in Northumberlands own rape seed oil. The smoked haddock and kippers are from Craster, and our own organic free-range eggs. Morris, our local family butcher, has created a special sausage just for our guests at The Haven - truly scrumptious.

Roz trained as a chocolatier, so if your tempted to have the pancake with berries and homemade chocolate sauce, you are in for a treat! As an extra treat on a Sunday morning a glass of Buck's Fizz is available to all our guests.

The dining room is set out with tables for two, or larger tables, if you are a bigger group. The buffet unit has a wide selection of cereals and fruit to tempt you before you have your truly scrumptious cooked breakfast.

Evening meals are available most of the time (pre-booked), children's menu, packed lunches, afternoon tea or fresh/toasted sandwiches are available on request. All meals are created using local produce.

The bar, which is available to you and your guests, has a grand selection of spirits, including our own 'Black Rory' whisky, ' Myrtle Gin', and specially selected wines and local beers.
