The Carpenters Arms is an Oasis of fine food, quality beers and wines and outstanding value for money accommodation. Our FSA five star award means you can dine with confidence, we are one of only a few pubs Nationally to have been awarded this rating.

We have no doubt given other local establishment ratings we would easily achieve 3 stars or 4 diamonds. However it is more important to us to offer what the customer wants rather than guide inspectors. We also consider the well-being of all our guests, therefore we do not offer a late bar, as we have found by experience this could disturb those who welcome a peaceful night's sleep.

Home away from home:

Working in Swindon but living in Cambridge makes it a bit difficult to commute. This B&B offers a nice place to stay, good food and is affordable. The room is large enough, the shower ( I had the room with the walk-in shower) is a treat. Powerful, hot and spacious. I have stayed at 4**** hotels without this. The meals, within reason, can be cooked to one's wishes and are always plentiful. Having read a previous review about waiting time for food and ash-trays, I felt a bit confused as the rooms have no ash-trays (so they can't be full)and the kitchen has a limited opening time which guarantees less waiting and freshly cooked food. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone.
