Our Policy on Charitable Support

Each year we review the charity to be selected for support for the next 12 months and we select our annual charity from a wide range of suitable candidates. Our criteria is that they must be associated with the British Isles, that they work to protect our heritage or enhance our environment and that their activities not only encourage tourists to enjoy our beautiful and varied landscape but also that their efforts improve our own enjoyment and understanding of our islands.

There is no reason why the same charity cannot be supported for several years, if our continued support will assist in a particular project which we feel is worth that additional support. The selected charity need not cover the whole of the British Isles and can focus on a specific area or a particular project. Our criteria is that the activity of the charity must be of particular benefit to the environment, either locally or nationaly.

We are open to suggestion as to suitable charities to support for the following twelve months. Our criteria is that

• they must be associated with the British Isles,
• that they work to protect our heritage or
• enhance our environment
• that their activities encourage tourism both national and international
• that their efforts improve our own enjoyment and understanding of our islands
• or those that provide eductation for young people within those factors.
