Falmouth Oyster Festival
The Falmouth Oyster Festival celebrates the start of the oyster dredging season and the quality and range of Cornish seafood. It is an annual event held in mid-October in Falmouth, Cornwall. It runs for four days and provides a wealth of fun for all visitors and all ages.
There are cookery master-classes, demonstrations from leading chefs such as Rick Stein, oysters and other seafood as well as Cornish produce and beers. There are events for children such as shell painting, Oyster shucking competitions, traditional sea shanties, a working boats race, live music including Jazz and the Wurzells, comedy and a town parade. There are a host of marquees displaying local food and drink producers, craft stalls and a festival atmosphere pervades the whole event.
The nearest train station is Falmouth and visitors from all parts should change at Truro for the local Maritime Line service. By car, join the M5 towards Exeter then take the A30 over Bodmin or the A38 via Plymouth. Post code for Falmouth centre is TR11 3DF.
