The Royal International Air Tattoo
Held over the third weekend in July, at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, The Royal International Air Tattoo is the world’s largest air show and the event in 2009 attracted hundreds of planes from over 20 different countries and has gained a reputation as one of the UK's top outdoor family events. The show is an important venue for the aerospace industry to showcase their products in a more relaxed atmosphere, without the pressures experienced at other shows such as The Farnborough Airshow, which has a high commercial aspect to the event. It is the world’s biggest and best air show, with hundreds of aircraft offering death-defying displays to over 160,000 spectators on both days and the event raises money for The Royal Airforce Charitable Trust.
