The Festival of Speed

The Festival of Speed is held each year at Goodwood House in West Sussex. It was started in 1993 in order to revive the tradition of racing on the Goodwood Estate. It was originally proposed to use the Goodwood Racing Circuit but this proved impossible at the time. The event, a hill climb event, now takes place in late June or early July and is a three day event featuring historic racing cars from the last 100 years of motor racing history. There are new cars and innovative designs shown by car manufactures, Wackey Car Races, air displays by the RAF and the Red Arrows and the Supercar Run. Many celebrities from the past and present racing teams attend the festival of speed and many take part in the races. The Festival of Speed is an unique event, classified as a Hill Climb and located in a beautiful setting. The festival has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the cars and the drivers can be viewed at close quarters. The event attracts well over 100,000 visitors over the three days and is organised by the Earl of March and the Goodwood Estate.
