Family Friendly - A great city for a family holiday

A great city for a family holidayChester Centre

Take the family somewhere different and book a bed and breakfast in Chester. Chester is a lovely city that has stood on the river Dee in Cheshire for over 2,000 years,  since at least Roman times. In fact, the Roman remains can be seen everywhere. Its city walls and the layout of its main streets have all been in existence since the Romans founded the city in AD79. Some buildings from these times still stand and there are a host of artefacts and buildings that show evidence of Roman architecture. The city walls are the best preserved and most complete of any city in the UK and you can walk along the top of these walls and see the city from a different perspective. Although Chester is a large town with a population of well over 100,000, when you are in the historic city centre you feel that it is a small and compact city.

The centre of the city contains many medieval houses and a wealth of black and white buildings that line the main street. Although these all look medieval, some are actually Victorian recreations. Some of these Victorian houses have been built on the remains of earlier buildings and some of the roman cellars underneath them are opened as restaurants and bars. This is a city that has something for everyone and there are a large number of properties that offer bed and breakfast in Chester so finding somewhere to stay for a few days while you explorer the delights of the city centre should not be a problem. And to see everything this city has to offer you may want to stay for a couple of days at least.

As well as fantastic shopping, Chester offers a large number of restaurants and pubs, wonderful churches, a cathedral, roman and historic buildings, riverside walks and a wealth of places of interest for all the family. A family holiday in Chester is one that will be long remembered. Even a day trip is worthwhile although you may not see everything that Chester has to offer. My advice is book a bed and breakfast in Chester or nearby and spend at least two days exploring this city at leisure. It deserves to be given the time.
