WEBSITE

Located within half a mile of the Hadrian's Wall National Trail, Hill on the Wall is a unique B&B establishment on the Cumbria/Northumberland border and at the heart of Hadrian's Wall and Reivers country. The property is a Grade 2 listed building and has been part of the historic landscape since it was built as a fortified "bastle" farmhouse in 1595, on an outstanding hilltop location overlooking Hadrian's Wall. We are open most of the year from 1st March to 30th November.

Step outside our front door onto the terrace and gardens and immediately you are amongst some of the most breathtaking natural surroundings in the country. The Hill on the Wall provides a splendid Bed & Breakfast experience on the Hadrian's Wall walking and cycling trails with luxury being our standard.  We are ideally situated for visiting Hadrian's Wall (especially Birdoswald Roman Fort), historic Carlisle and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Muddy boots and dirty cycles are welcome.

We have three guest bedrooms available: a kingsize double room with ensuite bathroom, and two twin rooms, one ensuite and one with private bathroom.  All bedrooms are spacious and furnished to the highest standard. They all have flat screen televisions, free Wi fi connection, sumptuous duck/goose feather duvets (hypoallergenic duvets are available on request), blankets, current monthly glossy magazines, cafetieres with fresh ground coffee, selection of tea/instant coffee/decaf coffee/hot chocolate, complimentary barrel of biscuits, selection of chocolate items, bottles of water, bath robes and slippers, hairdryers and use of iron and ironing board. All the en-suite/private bathrooms with their contemporary lighting and modern bathroom fittings have luxury towels and a treasure trove of branded toiletries, which include toothpaste and deodorants; magnified make up mirror (complimentary eye make up remover and cotton wool/cotton buds for the ladies); shaver sockets (complimentary shaving balm for the gents).

Breakfast at Hill on the Wall is a hearty affair - quality local produce is used whenever possible. Packed lunches also available on request. There is a spacious and comfortable lounge with a wood burning stove and library for guests. We provide ample on-site car parking and secure cycle storage for guests, all within one acre of beautiful gardens. When you have had enough of the hustle and bustle of the busier tourist spots, mark the end of a perfect day by unwinding back at Hill on the Wall B&B with tea and home made cake in the garden and watch the sunset over the North Pennines and the Lakeland fells beyond.  Sorry, no dogs.
