WEBSITE

Strathassynt Bed and Breakfast is a friendly, family-run 3-star guest house located in the historic village of Ballachulish on the banks of Loch Leven in the West Highlands of Scotland. Set amid some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole of the British Isles, you’ll find a warm welcome and a warm comfortable bed waiting for you. And in the morning you’ll fill up on our great breakfast before heading out for the day to explore the spectacular mountains (many of which are munros), lochs and glens surrounding us.

Less than a mile from the atmospheric Glencoe, site of the infamous massacre,  there are more breath-taking landscapes and history in the area than you can shake a stick at. Situated on the main A82 route from GlasgowEdinburgh, and Stirling to Fort WilliamOban, the Isle of Skye, the Isle of Mull, and on to The Great Glen,  Loch Ness with its world famous monster, and InvernessBallachulish is the ideal location to explore this incredible area. Glencoe is the perfect place for hikers, hillwalkers, cyclists, extreme sport enthusiasts, golfers, whisky aficionados, skiers, mountaineers, and outdoor enthusiasts of all varieties, all of whom are catered for in the area,. It’s also the perfect location for those who just want to escape the madding crowd and do a little soul-recharging in the peace and quiet of this beautiful land.

We have four room types:  Family Room - sleeping up to five people, this  spacious room has a double bed, bunk beds, and space for a further fold-down bed or cot; Triple Room – with a double bed and a single bed, this room sleeps three people comfortably; Double Rooms – great for couples, these rooms have a double bed; Twin Rooms – for friends or family, these rooms have two single beds. All of the rooms have an ensuite shower room with WC and wash basin, and all are fully equipped with TV and DVD player, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. All our rooms have top-of-the-range mattresses, pillows and big warm duvets and this, along with our crisp white bed linen, means cosiness and comfort are ensured.

After a good night’s sleep, the most important thing to set you up for the day, and here at Strathassynt we make sure no one leaves hungry! Choose from a wide selection of cereals, fruit juices, yoghurts and fruit with toast and tea or coffee before indulging in a full Scottish breakfast.  We have a large guest lounge furnished with comfortable sofas for lounging or reading, and a table and chairs for snacking or playing games. It’s stocked with a wide selection of games, books, and lots of information on the area. There’s snacks and soft drinks available on an honesty basis, and there’s also our extensive DVD library which you’re welcome to select a movie from for watching in your room.  Every room has its own free parking space on our grounds. There’s a garden to the back of the property where you can sit out on warm evenings, and where the kids can play.  For walkers, climbers and everyone who enjoys the outdoors, we’ve got a drying room where you can put your boots and outer garments to dry off overnight. The area is very popular with cyclists, and Ballachulish is often a stop off for those cycling the famous John O’Groats to Land’s End route, the increasingly popular Durness to Dover route, or the brand new Ballachulish to Oban cycle path. Cyclists are very welcome at Strathassynt, and we have a cycle shed where you can lock up your bike, and spend your time with us safe in the knowledge your bike will be waiting for you in the morning. If you’ve been travelling for a while and want to get your laundry done, we can do a wash and dry for you at only £5 per load. High speed fibre wifi is available throughout the B&B.
