The Carpenters Arms is an Oasis of fine food, quality beers and wines and outstanding value for money accommodation. The recently awarded FSA five star award means you can dine with confidence, we are one of only a few pubs Nationally to have been awarded this rating.
We have no doubt given other local establishment ratings we would easily achieve 3 stars or 4 diamonds. However it is more important to us to offer what the customer wants rather than guide inspectors. We also consider the well-being of all our guests, therefore we do not offer a late bar, as we have found by experience this could disturb those who welcome a peaceful night's sleep.

Home away from home:
Working in Swindon but living in Cambridge makes it a bit difficult to commute. This B&B offers a nice place to stay, good food and is affordable. The room is large enough, the shower ( I had the room with the walk-in shower) is a treat. Powerfull, hot and spacious. I have stayed at 4**** hotels without this. The meals, within reason, can be cooked to one's wishes and are always plentyfull. Having read a previous review about waiting time for food and ash-trays, I felt a bit confused as the rooms have no ash-trays (so they can't be full)and the kitchen has a limited opening time which guarantees less waiting and freshly cooked food. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this establishment to anyone.
Directions
The map points to the centre of the postcode for The Carpenters Arms Motel and may not indicate the exact position of the property, you can zoom in or out and move the map around to get the best directions for your journey there.
By Car: South Marston is just 5 minutes from junction 15 M4, off the A420 Oxford Road. Just follow the signs for Cirencester after leaving the Motorway, take the A420 Oxford exit after a mile. Follow the Oxford signs past a big Sainsbury's on the right. Do not take the left turn at a mini roundabout go straight on after 1000 yards turn left towards South Marston. The Motel is then 100 yards on the right. From the North either take the M5 leaving junction 11A and the stay on the dual carriageway for 25 miles leaving at the A420 Oxford Exit. From Oxford take the A420, and then as from M4.
By Bus: Local services from Swindon or Cirencester
By Plane: Heathrow or Bristol M4 as above.
Accommodation
All rooms are fully en-suite all with trouser presses, hair-dryers, shaver sockets, ceiling fans, televisions, some with DVD, all with FREE broadband wireless internet(802.11g). Please note the rates posted vary according the time of week. A single night booking midweek will be at the upper level. Monday through Thursday a single starts at £30.00 for 4 nights and a twin/double at £50 (4 nights or more) room only in both cases, cash on arrival. This increases by £5/night for less nights IE: £45 single for 1 night. Breakfast is available at ££7.50./head. This still makes us one of the cheapest quality establishments in Swindon. We offer upgrade to a superior room for long stay guests, subject to availability, on a weekly basis.
We also now offer the FreeDiscountCard.co.uk facility which is applicable to our standard tariff only.
Please note our cancellation policy is mid-day on the day of arrival. We will debit reservation card in the event of a no show to the value of a nights stay per room reserved. We will only refund the money on proof, via phone bill or dated and times email of prior cancellation. We use to be flexible on this condition however it has sadly become all too common for people just to fail to arrive, and as a small establishment we cannot afford to have rooms vacant.

Leisure
We are surrounded by many leisure clubs, excellent golf courses and high numbers of quality shopping complexes, which contain cinema's, restaurants, and much more.
We are now able to offer access to one of the most up to date leisure clubs in the area, for a session fee of just £3.50. The club has a 22 metre pool as well as numerous other facilities. This is on a first come come, we only have two tickets, which must be presented at the Club reception.
