Beach Holidays In The UK

06 July 2011

Holidays by the sea are a favourite with everyone and lots of people are choosing to stay in the UK for their summer break this year, to avoid costly flights. Self catering accommodation is a good option to give you ultimate control over your holiday – you might have particular dietary needs or just like the idea or eating as and when you like! Self catering accommodation by the sea gives you the option to have a late breakfast overlooking the sands, pack a picnic and enjoy a barbeque on the beach, or just curl up with a blanket and a bottle of wine at the end of the day to watch the sunset.

Self catering accommodation is relatively easy to find along the British coastline and there are lots of towns and villages for you to consider. Think about the kind of things that you want from your location – is a sea view essential, or are you happy to walk a short distance to the beach? Do you need facilities to accommodate children or pets? Are you after a quiet and quaint village, or a loud town with plenty of clubs? When you’re looking for self catering accommodation, try to find a good website that offers a search facility to help you narrow down the properties that you are interested in. Some locations are more suited to couples looking for a cosy week away, or families who are after games on the beach and water sports.

Self catering accommodation is great if you are planning a beach holiday with a large family, or perhaps a big group of friends. There are lots of large cottages, houses and similar self catering accommodation that will accept large groups, and you may even be able to find places to rent for a week that have extra facilities to make your stay more comfortable, such as access to a shared pool, games room or tennis court. These extras can be a great back up in case of bad weather (it is the UK after all!), and it’s also worth taking a selection of games in case you’re forced to stay in for a day due to bad weather. It might be a good idea to look for a holiday home near to a town or place of interest that you can visit on a day off from the beach. What you choose will depend on your personal taste, you might like to spend a day shopping or browsing round a museum or art gallery. If you are going with children, a nearby indoor play area can be a great find to keep up your sleeve in the case of inclement weather.
