There will be many bargain rural holiday opportunities during December, as long as you avoid Christmas and the New Year, where there will be a good range of self-catering cottages on offer. You can enjoy rural Britain from the warmth of a cosy cottage in the Cotswolds, ideally with an open log fire, at very competitive prices - especially if you make a late booking.

One of the most popular rural destinations in Britain is the Cotswolds. As well as the picturesque scenery for you to explore, there are the ‘chocolate box’ villages of Gloucestershire which will remind you of a by-gone era, as well as plenty of good walks in the Cotswolds. There is a good range of cottages in Gloucester and cottages in Cheltenham, which would make an ideal base for your visit to the Cotswolds.
