London Luton Airport
Situated on a plateau just 1.5 miles outside the town of Luton in Bedfordshire, Luton Airport has become one of the five airports serving the City of London. It handles over 10 million passenger a year for routes within Europe and North Africa. It is the UK’s 5th busiest Airport and was formerly known as Luton International Airport.
Luton has been a charter airport since 1949 and in 1972, Luton was the most profitable airport in the country. It has one runway and a single terminal.
The main airlines are Ryanair, EasyJet, Monarch, Thompson and Wizzair.
Transport access is good with trains from London and the north on the Midland mainline to Luton Airport Parkway, road access from the M1and bus services by Green Line Coaches, National Express and First Capital Connect. London Luton Airport is owned by Luton Borough Council and operated by London Luton Airport Operations Limited.
