London Gatwick Airport

Gatwick Airport is London’s second largest and busiest airport after Heathrow and one of the busiest airports in the World and the 8th largest in Europe.

It is located 28 miles to the south of central London at Crawley, West Sussex. It handles over 32 million passengers every year. It has two runways and two terminals (North and South).

The airport was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 1958. The airport passed from the ownership of BAA to a private investment company in late 2009 and part of that deal is that a large amount of redevelopment will take place. Major airlines using Gatwick include British Airways, Aer Lingus, EasyJet, Virgin, Flybe, Thompson, Thomas Cook and Monarch.

Road approach is via Junction 9a of the M23, buses operate from various destinations in and around London including from London Victoria Coach Station. The main carriers are National Express, Easybus and Oxford Bus Company. Rails services are via Gatwick Airport Railway Station, next to the South Terminal. London Gatwick Airport is owned by Global Infrastructure Partners and operated by Gatwick Airport Ltd.
