Belfast City Airport

Belfast City Airport in Northern Ireland, handles over 2.5 million passengers a year. It is a single runway airport that is situated next to the Port of Belfast.

It started life as part of the aircraft company Short Brothers next to their factory at Sydenham in 1937. It became a commercial airport in 1983. In 2006 it was renamed as George Best Belfast City Airport in memory of the footballer who played for Manchester United and originated from Belfast.

The main airlines that fly from Belfast are Flybe, Easyjet, BMI, and Ryanair. The airport is served by a road access from the A2, bus route 600 from the Europa Centre and Belfast Railway Station and by rail at Sydenham Station. The airport is owned by ABN Amro Global Infrastructure Fund.
